Cosimo Schinaia
Cosimo Schinaia – psychoanalyst and psychiatrist – is the member and lecturer of the Italian Psychoanalytic Society as well as the full member of the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA). He used to be the director of the psychiatric hospital in Cogoleto, the department director of the former Quarto psychiatric hospital and the medical director of the mental health department of the ASL regional center in Genova. He was the leader of the psychiatric journal called “The Salt Way”.

Cosimo Schinaia is the author of numerous scientific articles and essays, published in the Italian and foreign journals and monographs. Among his books are the following: “From the Nut Hospital to the Town. The Other Bed of Cogoleto” (1997); “The Yard of Ideas. Feasts in the Former Cogoleto Psychiatric Hospital” (1998); “Inside and Outside. Psychoanalysis and Architecture” (2016); “The Den of the Madmen. Scenes from the Nut Hospital” (2018). His famous book – “Psychoanalysis and the World of the Paedophile” – was first published in Italian in 2001 and was later on translated into English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and Polish. The second edition of the book “Paedophilia and Psychoanalysis” was issued in 2019.
